Biography
Vladimir Goreglyadov was born on April 22 (in the new style - May 5 ) in 1915 in Krasnodar in the family of an employee. He received incomplete secondary education, he worked as a foreman of the state farm in the Crimea . On July 28, 1940, Goreglyadov was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army by the Feodosia District Military Commissariat of the Crimea. In 1941 he graduated from the Odessa Infantry School. Since August of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In 1943 he graduated from the courses "Shot" . By August 1944, Captain Vladimir Goreglyadov of the Guard commanded the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 170th Guards Infantry Regiment of the 57th Guards Infantry Division of the 8th Guards Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the crossing of the Vistula [1] .
The battalion of Goreglyadov captured a bridgehead on the western bank of the Vistula near Magnushev and held it, repelling numerous enemy counterattacks, which contributed to the successful crossing of the other regimental units [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, Captain Vladimir Goreglyadov was given the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union for “exemplary performance of the combat tasks of the command on the front against the German invaders and for showing courage and heroism”. The Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal he did not have time to receive, since on February 3, 1945 he died in battle. He was buried in the settlement of Raytwein , 13 kilometers north of Frankfurt an der Oder [1] .
