Monotropastrum (lat.) Is a genus of plants of the Heather family [2] [3] [4] [5] . Based on morphological and molecular studies, the genus Monotropastrum was assigned to the subfamily Monotropoideae , tribe Monotropeae [6] .

Range

Two species of the genus Monotropastrum are found in Bhutan , China , India , Indonesia (in Sumatra ), Japan (including the Ryukyu Islands ), Korea , Laos , Myanmar , Nepal , Russia ( Sakhalin ), Sikkim , Thailand , and Vietnam [7] .

Biological Description

Perennial mycoheterotrophic herbs [7] . The roots form a rather dense mass [7] .

Stems and leaves are absent [7] .

Inflorescences are stalked or racemose, going straight from the roots [7] . The flowers are single or collected in a brush with several flowers; sepals pressed to the petals, sometimes absent; petals from 3 to 5 [7] .

The fruit is an unopened berry [7] . Seeds are numerous, ovoid [7] .
