In 1950 he entered the Shoreikai . In the same year he received 4 dan , becoming a professional player.
In 1956 he received the 8th dan, entered the class A league, in 1957 - the 9th dan.
In 1989-2002 - President of the Japanese Shogi Association .
In 1990, he completed his professional gaming career.
