Biography
Born on October 20, 1920 in the village of Konchinka of the Volkovsky Village Council (now the Krasninsky District of the Smolensk Region ; according to other sources, in the village of Kryukovo of the Volokolamsky District of the Moscow Region), in a peasant family. Russian
Secondary education.
In the Red Army since 1940. In 1941 he graduated from political courses in the city of Radomyshl, Zhytomyr region. Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1944.
Major Aleksey Gorelenkov, commander of the battalion of the 117th Guards Rifle Regiment of the Guard, distinguished himself in battles near Berlin . On April 23, 1945, he was among the first to cross the Spree River and seize the bridgehead . In a battle at the chemical plant, the battalion destroyed over a company and captured more than 100 Nazis. The battalion participated in the seizure of a number of factories and the central telephone exchange in Berlin.
Until 1958, Major Gorelenkov continued to serve in the army. After being transferred to the reserve, he lived and worked in Moscow.
He died on May 18, 2005 [1] .
