Biography

He came from a noble and rich Lithuanian princely-magnate family of Vishnevetsky . The younger son of Prince Ivan Mikhailovich Vishnevetsky ( 1490 - 1542 ) and Anastasia Olizarovich. Konstantin participated in his father's campaigns against the Crimean Tatars. In 1542, after the death of his father, Prince Ivan Mikhailovich Vishnevetsky , Konstantin received part of his father’s inheritance. He took part in the Livonian war with the Russian kingdom . For his own money hired a detachment of two hundred hussars, at the head of which he took part in hostilities. In January 1564, Prince Konstantin Vishnevetsky participated in the defeat of the Russian army under the command of Prince Peter Ivanovich Shuisky in the battle of Chashniki .

In 1569, Prince Konstantin Ivanovich Vishnevetsky, as part of a delegation of Western Russian magnates, attended the Polish-Lithuanian congress in Lublin . At first, together with the princes Konstantin Konstantinovich Ostrozhsky , Alexander Chartoryi, the brother Andrey Vishnevetsky , Roman Fedorovich Sangushko and Andrey Kapusta was opposed to the conclusion of the Union of Lublin between Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . In negotiations with the Polish senators, the tycoon princes demanded the preservation of the ancient rights and privileges of the Western Russian nobility, religion and the Russian language. After the Poles fulfilled these requirements, the Western Russian princes, including the brothers Konstantin and Andrei Vishnevetsky , signed the Union of Lublin , according to the terms of which the Podlaski , Volyn , Kiev and Bratslav provinces were rejected from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania .

In 1570, Prince Konstantin Ivanovich Vishnevetsky was appointed a royal nobleman; In 1574, Konstantin Vishnevetsky died and was buried in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra .
