History
On May 1, 1555, Lord Mayor of London Thomas White received permission from the king to build a charity college to educate students at Oxford University.
Initially, the Catholic clergy studied at the college to carry out the counter-reformation organized by Queen Mary . Subsequently, the Anglican clergy studied at the college. The college also became famous for its medical and legal departments.
