Biography
He was born in a large peasant family in the village of Chorn (in the modern Odessa region of Ukraine). In 1926 he graduated from Odessa Medical Institute . Before the war, he was for some time the head of the medical department in Nezavetailovka, an intern doctor at the Baltic Regional Hospital, and then the chief doctor of the Kotov National Hospital. During the Great Patriotic War he served as a military surgeon . He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and various other medals. In 1944 , he was demobilized and in the same year was appointed to the post of Deputy People's Commissar of Health of the Moldavian SSR. He was in this post from 1944 to 1947 .
In 1945 , the Chisinau State Medical Institute was founded (transformed from a branch of the Kislovodsk Medical Institute), I. Kh. Sorochan became the first rector of this university. However, in 1948 he was appointed new rector N.A. Kharauzov (held this position from 1948 to 1951), head of the department of pharmacology. I. Kh. Sorochan in 1948-1950 works as the head of the surgical department of the First City Hospital of Balti . In 1950-1955 worked as the chief doctor of the Republican Oncology Center, and since 1955 he became an assistant in the Department of General Surgery. March 8, 1961 he was awarded the title of "Honored Doctor of the MSSR".
