Mirza Teletovic ( Serbian Mirza Teletoviћ ; born September 17, 1985 in Mostar , Bosnia and Herzegovina CP , SFRY ) was a Bosnian professional basketball player who played in the championships of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Spain, and in the National Basketball Association . Club career
Europe
At the professional level, Teletovic made his debut in the 2002/03 season for the Sloboda Tuzla team representing the championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the first season, he scored an average of 7.2 points per game and made 2.7 rebounds. In the second season, the performance improved significantly, he began to score 26.4 points and 6.6 rebounds (for 17 matches in the league). [one]
In 2004, he moved to the Belgian championship, where he played for Ostend for two seasons. He also played in the second most important European club competition - the ULEB Eurocup , where he averaged 6.7 points per game and made 2 rebounds.
In 2006, he joined the Spanish Basque Club, Basque , which also participated in the Euroleague raffle. He made his debut in the championship of Spain on October 1, 2006 against Valencia , in which his team won with a difference of one point - 95-94. [2] In the debut season, Euroleague scored an average of 5.3 points per game and made 2.8 rebounds. He announced participation in the 2007 NBA draft , but was not selected.
The next three seasons spent in the Spanish team, became a player in the starting lineup, as well as the captain of the " Basque Country ". In 2008 he received the award "Rising Star of the Championship of Spain." In 2009, according to the results of the first three games in the Spanish Cup , the MVP of the tournament was named. [3]
For 10 matches in the Euroleague season 2011-12 , he scored an average of 21.7 points per game and made 6 rebounds. However, despite his game, “ Basque Country ” failed to get into the Top 16. In June 2012, the player and the club agreed to buy out his contract for 2 million euros , with the proviso that next year he will leave to play in the NBA . [four]
NBA
On July 3, 2012, Teletovich formally agreed to sign a three-year contract worth $ 15.6 million with Brooklyn Nets . [5] As a result, the amount of the three-year contract was revised and amounted to $ 9 million, [6] so the agreement fell under a collective NBA deal with a few exceptions.
November 5, 2012 NBA debuted in a match against the " Minnesota ", which scored 5 points. In December 2017, doctors discovered blood clots in both Teletović lungs, after which he was out of order for an indefinite period — perhaps the Bosnian would have to end his career. In March 2018, Milwaukee dismissed Teletovich [7] .
International Career
Teletovic is a player in the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina . He performed at the Eurobasket 2003 , 2005 and 2011 . At the tournament in 2011, he averaged 13.8 points per game and made 5.8 rebounds, but the team took only 17th place out of 24. [8]
In the qualifying tournament for Eurobasket 2013 scored 24.3 points, made 6.3 rebounds and gave 2.1 transmission per game. Bosnia and Herzegovina ranked first in group D.
