The 3rd draw of the European Women's Champions League (43rd, taking into account the European Cup) took place from December 4, 2002 to March 16, 2003 with the participation of 16 club teams from 11 countries of the European Volleyball Confederation . The final stage was held in Pyla ( Poland ). The winner of the tournament for the second time in a row was the French Racing Club de Cannes ( Cannes ).

Qualification System
All countries participating in the previous Champions League retained their quantitative representation in the 2002-2003 draw. Thus, 12 out of 16 places were distributed. At the same time, two teams got the opportunity to declare Italy , Spain and Turkey , one each - Russia , France , Poland , Slovenia , Croatia and Germany . Yugoslavia , Azerbaijan , Hungary and Bulgaria won 4 more places in the League by special invitation (wild card) to the EKB. After the refusal of the participation of teams from Germany and Slovenia, Poland and Yugoslavia got vacancies by decision of the EKB.

Draw System
Competitions consist of a preliminary stage, a playoff and a final stage. At the preliminary stage, 16 participating teams are divided into 4 groups. In groups, teams play in two rounds. The teams that took 1-2 places in the groups go to the playoffs.
8 teams participating in the playoffs are divided into pairs and spend two matches with each other on the road. The winner of the pair is the team that won two victories. In case of equality of victories, the winner of the pair is the team that has the best ratio of parties based on the results of two meetings.
The final stage is held in the format of “final four” - a semi-final and two finals (for 3rd and 1st places). The winners of the playoffs are taking part in it.
