Women's Chess Olympiad 1976

The 7th Women's Chess Olympiad was held together with the 22nd Men's Chess Olympiad from October 26 to November 10, 1976, in the Israeli city ​​of Haifa .

23 teams took part in the competition (the teams of the socialist camp boycotted the tournament).

The tournament was attended by 90 chess players, including 1 grandmaster and 6 international masters .

396 games were played (the results of the 1st game were canceled) on a round robin system in 2 rounds.

Places were determined: 1. The number of points. → 2. The number of team points (KOs).

Time control: 40 moves in 2 hours 30 minutes, then 60 minutes for the next 16 moves.

Rules

23 teams were divided into 4 semifinal groups. The teams that took the first two places, got into the main final “A”. The next two are in the final “B”. Teams that ranked lower than the fourth ended up in the consolation finale “C”.

  • Points - the sum of points scored by all chess players (1 victory for a chess player, ½ for a draw, 0 for defeat);
  • KO - unofficial team points ( KPob - team victory, KNich - draw, Korp - defeat), scored by the whole team (2 for the victory of the team, 1 - draw, 0 - defeat).
  • B - Berger coefficient .
