Career
A graduate of the Irish Shelbourne Academy. He played his only match, replacing the Intertoto Cup match against Vetra on June 24, 2006. It was soon leased to Kilkenny City . He later left Shelburne and in February 2007 joined Longford Town , which in the same year flew to the First Division, but managed to reach the final of the Irish Cup , in which Deean did not play due to injury. On January 24, 2008, he became a Galway United player, where Gary did not stay long and was released by the club due to financial problems. Bohemians took advantage of this, having signed an annual contract with a football player. It was in Bohemians for the first time that the paths of Digan and Pat Fenlon crossed; in the future they will end up together in Hibernian . In two years, Gary became the two-time champion of Ireland (2008 and 2009) and won the “ Cup of Ireland ”. Gary himself in 2008 was recognized as the best central midfielder of the season, gaining 28% of the votes of fans, and in 2009 he entered the symbolic national team of the season [1] . The successes of a powerful midfielder were noticed by the English Coventry City and on December 21, 2009 it was signed by the British [2] . He made his debut for the new team on January 9, 2010, and on February 13 of the same year he marked his first goal [3] . The 2010/11 season was forced to miss due to an ankle fracture, playing only in the last matches of his team. In 2012, he was temporarily suspended from participating in the team’s matches for posting on Twitter one of the slogans “ IRA ” [4] . In August 2012, he was signed by the Scottish Hibernian , where he reunited with Pat Fenlon , under whose leadership he won all his trophies [5] . In Edinburgh, Digan's jaw was broken during an attack at the exit of a nightclub.
