Oslo, August 31st ( Norwegian Oslo, 31. august ) is a drama by Norwegian director Joakim Trier , released in 2011 . The premiere of the film took place in the “Special Look” program of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival [1] [2] . The tape won prizes for the best film and best cinematography at the Stockholm Film Festival in 2011, and jury chairman Whit Stillman described the film as “a magnificent portrait of a generation” [3] .

Story
The main character of the film is Anders, a 34-year-old patient at a rehabilitation clinic in Oslo. On August 31, he receives permission to go out into the city on the day for an interview for employment. After meeting with a friend, Thomas Anders goes to an interview, from which he runs away after he admits that he suffered from drug addiction. The remaining evening and night, he walks around the city, recalling the mistakes of the past and meeting old acquaintances.
