2012 Women's Ice Hockey World Championship in Division I - IIHF sponsored ice hockey competition held from March 25 to April 15, 2012 in Ventspils ( Latvia ) and Kingston upon Halle ( Great Britain ). According to the results of the tournament in group A: the team that won first place got the right to play in the top division of the 2013 World Cup , and the team that took last place moved to group B [1] . According to the results of the tournament in group B: the team that won the first place went to group A, and the team that took the last place moved to group A of the second division of the 2013 World Cup [2] .

Participating Teams
12 national teams took part in the championship - nine from Europe and three from Asia . Due to the decrease in the number of divisions from five to two, most teams came from last year's tournaments in the first and second divisions. The Kazakhstan team came from the TOP division , the Netherlands team came from the third division , the Japanese team did not participate last year due to the earthquake in Japan , it was guaranteed participation in 2012 [3]
