Hieronymus Georg Zeuten ( d. Hieronymus Georg Zeuthen , 1839-1920) is a Danish mathematician and historian of mathematics. The works relate to geometry , algebraic geometry and mathematical analysis , but the main fame was due to the works on the history of mathematics , translated into many languages. Member of the Danish Academy of Sciences (1872).

Biography
Born to a pastor’s family in southern Denmark. In 1857–1862, he studied mathematics at the University of Copenhagen , then in Paris he attended lectures by prominent geometer Michel Shalya .
In 1865 he defended his thesis in Copenhagen and remained to work at the university, 6 years later he was accepted as an extraordinary professor at the University of Copenhagen, and also lectured at the Polytechnic Institute. At the same time, Zeiten became the editor of the mathematical journal Matematisk Tidsskrift (he performed these duties for 18 years) and the secretary of the Danish Royal Academy of Sciences (he held this position for 39 years, since 1878). In 1886, Zeiten became a full professor. Twice elected as rector of the university.
