Savo Buric ( Serb Savo Buriћ ; January 11, 1915 , Zagreda - June 16, 1953 , Belgrade ) - Yugoslav military leader, participant in the People's Liberation War of Yugoslavia , lieutenant general of the Yugoslav People’s Army and People’s Hero of Yugoslavia .

Biography

Born January 11, 1915 in Zagred near Danilovgrad in a poor peasant family. He graduated from elementary school in Danilovgrad and secondary school in Cetinje . He entered the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade , joined the revolutionary student movement. He was admitted to the party in 1939 .

In 1941, Savo joined the partisan anti-fascist movement of Belgrade, participated in the preparation of the Montenegrin anti-fascist rebellion . In the first battles he proved himself as a brave fighter, after which he was appointed company commander of the Lovchen partisan battalion. After the formation of the Montenegrin-Sandzhak partisan detachment, Burich became a part of him, on December 21, 1941 he led the company in the 1st Lovcen battalion of the 1st proletarian shock brigade .

In August 1942, Savo led the 1st Lovcen battalion, in July 1943 he took command of the 5th proletarian Montenegrin shock brigade , in September of that year he was already heading the 2nd Dalmatian shock brigade . Later he led the 4th proletarian Montenegrin shock brigade , in July 1944 he was appointed commander of the 3rd shock division .

After the war, he continued his service in the Yugoslav People’s Army, graduated from the Higher Military Academy, and held several posts. He received the rank of lieutenant colonel on May 1, 1943 after a decree on the official introduction of officer ranks in the army. In October 1944 he received the rank of colonel , December 22, 1944 - major general , and in 1947 and the rank of lieutenant general .

He died on June 16, 1963 in Belgrade . He was buried in the Alley of Popular Heroes at the New Cemetery in Belgrade. He was awarded a number of orders of Yugoslavia: in addition to the title and the Order of the National Hero (received them on December 20, 1951 ) he wore the Order of the Partisan Memory of 1941, the Order of the Military Flag, Partisan Star and others.
