In 1972 he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.

In 1978, full-time graduate studies at the Institute of African Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and Higher Courses of Strategic Analysis (Institute for Strategic Studies, Cairo).

In that year, he began his scientific work at the Institute of African Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

From 1988 he headed the Synergetic Laboratory of NPO SINLA.

Since 1993 - Chief Specialist in the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of Russia, member of the working group on the development of the concept and strategy for the development of foreign economic relations of Russia and the criteria for ensuring its foreign economic security.

Since 1995 - expert, then manager in the Strategic Analysis Service of MAPO “MiG”.

Since 1997, Head of the Moscow Theoretical Seminar "Global Community: Changing Social and Cultural Paradigms."

In 1998, he was a member of the independent expert council on strategic analysis of foreign and domestic policy problems under the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Since 1998 - Deputy Director of the National Institute for the Development of the Economics Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Geoeconomic Analysis and Problems of Social Development of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Intersectoral Center "Geoeconomics".

Since 1999 - Deputy Director of the Institute of Economic Strategies at the Department of International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Since 1999 - full member of the Philosophical and Economic Scholarly Assembly of Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov, member of the Scientific Council "History of World Culture" at the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1999)

Since 2000 - Head of the Department of Geoeconomics of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems.

In 2000, he was a member of the Foreign Policy Council of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly; Member of the Central Asia Crisis Management Working Group, the Consortium of Military Academies and Security Institutes (under the Partnership for Peace Program) at the Center for J. Marshall.

Since 2000 - Professor of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems.

The main area of ​​research is international management systems and global development trends, including the concept of the historical process as a successive change in the forms of self-organization of society, geo-economic research and structural modeling of socio-economic processes, post-Westphalia system of international relations as a hierarchical and dynamic system of global management, problems of neo-anarchic society on the African continent and others.
