Uruguay national rugby team

The Uruguayan national rugby team represents Uruguay in top-level international rugby matches and competitions. The team is led by the Uruguayan Rugby Union. The first match of the national team was held in 1948, when Uruguayans met with the national team of Chile and lost with a score of 3:21. The team took part in the World Cup three times - in 1999 , 2003 and 2015 . In 1981, Uruguayans became champions of South America - this is the only case in history when Argentina did not become champions. However, the rugby players of Uruguay have never beaten Argentinean rivals in an official match. Uruguay won 19 silver medals in the tournament 19 times and finished in third place in 9 seasons. The national team of Uruguay plays in blue and black colors, using a white and blue uniform as a guest. South Americans are known by the nickname Teros , that is, pigfish .
