NBA Career
Dallas Mavericks
After the third season at the University, Jackson decided not to continue his studies and put forward his candidacy for the 1992 NBA draft . In the draft, he was selected under number 4 by the Dallas Mavericks club. In his first season, due to disputes about the contract, he entered the court in only 28 championship games, but in the next season he played all 82 games on average, gaining 19.2 points and making 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. In the 1994/95 season , Jamal Mashburn and Jason Kidd joined the team and the Mavericks fans began to call this trio “Three J's”. After 51 games of the third season, he injured his leg and was forced to miss the rest of the season, but even at that time he was gaining 25.7 points per game and made 5.1 rebounds. However, due to disagreements between Kidd and Jackson over Tony Braxton , the latter, along with Sam Cassell , Eric Montross, George McCloud and Chris Gatling, were traded to the New Jersey Nets .
New Jersey Nets
Jackson played just 31 games for the Nets, averaging 16.5 points and making 5.9 rebounds per match. In the off-season New Jersey in the fight for Keith Van Horn had a big exchange, as a result of which Jackson ended up in the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers .
