Story
In Raft Prison, the dying Doctor Octopus endlessly pronounces the name of Peter Parker. The Avengers , who know the secret identity of Spider-Man, summon him to Raft. Spiderman arrives and is left alone with Dr. Octopus. It turns out that in some way Doctor Octopus was able to change consciousness with Peter Parker, and now in the body of Spider-Man there is the consciousness of Doctor Octopus, and in the body of the dying Doctor Octopus - Peter's mind. The Doctor Octopus (in whose body Peter) has a seizure, and Spider-Man (in whose body Dr. Octopus) leaves him [1] .
Doctors manage to revive the Doctor Octopus. Peter, who is in his body and having all his memories, is trying to understand how Doctor Octopus managed to swap bodies with him. Each time Peter Parker used Octopus technology and drove his Oktobots ( Spider-Island and Ends of the Earth storyline arches), Octopus got full access to Peter's mind. A special golden oktobot was able to rewrite the octopus's mind into Peter's body during the plot of Danger Zone [2] , when his spider instinct did not work due to interference from the devices used by Kingpin . After that, Peter (in the body of the Octopus) realizes that he can still control the golden oktobots. With his help, he sends a distress signal to supervillains who are promised rewards for rescuing him from prison. Three supervillains respond to the signal: Gidromen , Scorpio and Trapster. They manage to rescue him from prison, after which Peter (in the body of Octopus) orders them to catch Spider-Man alive [3] .

In one of the Octopus shelters, Trapster connects the life support system to Peter's mechanical hands (in the Octopus body). Because of Trapster's mistake, Peter is experiencing clinical death , during which he sees and talks to the people who were close to him. Peter comes to life and, together with the supervillains, goes to the 18th police station to find the gold octobot with which the mind exchange was previously carried out. Finding oktobota, Peter meets Carly. That, not believing his explanations, shoots. The bullet, ricocheting from Peter's tentacle, falls into her own hand.
At this time, Otto, in Peter’s body and Spiderman’s suit, gathers all of Parker's relatives and friends in a room located in the Avengers tower, under the pretext of ensuring their safety. Otto informs the police on which secret base Dr. Octopus is located, and includes a self-destruct system there. Peter leaves Trapster at the base due to the fact that he guessed about his intentions to change his mind with Otto, and swims away from the base on a submarine along with Gidromen and Scorpio. After a while they enter the Avengers building, where Otto meets them in Peter's body. During a fight, Parker in Otto's body is trying to use the golden Oktoboat to exchange minds with Otto, but he does not succeed, since Otto's head is protected by a layer of carbonadium. Instead, the dying Parker in the body of the Octopus with the help of the connection established by the oktobot, it is possible to transfer all his memories to Otto. Octavius is going through all the turning points in Parker's life (death of Uncle Ben , Gwen Stacy , etc.) and fully realizes that "great responsibility comes with great force." Otto promises Peter to take care of Mary Jane and his loved ones, after which Peter Parker in the body of Dr. Octopus dies. Dr. Octopus in the body of Peter Parker decides to become a new Spider-Man, who in everything will be better than the previous one. He decides to call himself the Excellent Spider-Man [4] .
The epilogue tells how Otto recalls his battles with the former Spider-Man, as well as how he creates an improved costume for himself [5] .
Creation History
In August 2012, Dan Slott, screenwriter for the storyline, spoke about the future of The Amazing Spider-Man . In particular, he stated that the storyline arch, unfolding in issues No. 698-700, will have a huge impact on the character and that he “will have to hide after the release No. 700” [6] . He also claimed that all events related to Doctor Octopus, starting with the release of The Amazing Spider-Man number 600, somehow were part of the story leading to the arch Dying Wish [7] .
