Agadzhanyants, Karapet Sarkisovich

Karapet Sarkisovich Agadzhanyants ( armenian Կարապետ Սարգսի Աղաջանյան ; 1876 , Tiflis - December 15, 1955 , Paris ) - psychiatrist , neurologist , neuroanatomist of the Russian Empire of Armenian origin. Teacher, professor, doctor of medicine.

Biography

Born in the family of archpriest of the Armenian-Gregorian religion. In 1896 he graduated from the 1st Tiflis Gymnasium with a silver medal. In 1901 he graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the Imperial Military Medical Academy (IVMA) in St. Petersburg . A student, and later one of V.M. Bekhterev 's associates. He was left in the competition for improvement at the Department of Mental and Nervous Diseases.

In 1904 he defended his doctoral dissertation: "On the cortical center of vision."

In 1905 - laboratory assistant at the Academy of Mental and Nervous Diseases Clinic; since 1906 - assistant, and since 1909 - privat-docent of the Clinic for Mental and Nervous Diseases at the St. Petersburg Women's Medical Institute.

In 1910, he trained in Berlin , where under the guidance of a German neurologist Luis Jacobson-Lask studied a course of neuroanatomy. After returning to Russia, he practiced at the Mikhailovsky hospital in Tiflis.

In 1911 he was appointed director of the physiotherapy clinic of the St. Petersburg Psychoneurological Institute. Professor. He was a member of the original committee of the St. Petersburg Psychoneurological Institute, in which he taught a course of nervous diseases.

From November 1913 to January 1915, Professor Agadzhanyants taught at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Warsaw , and after the evacuation of the university in Rostov-on-Don , at the University of Rostov .

In 1915, he was a consultant on nervous diseases on the Southern Front of the First World War .

In 1920 he emigrated to Turkey ; since 1922 he taught at the University of Constantinople .

In 1924 he moved to France. In 1924-1929 - member, then member of the board, and in 1937-1948 - chairman, then honorary chairman of the Mechnikov Society of Russian Doctors in France.

In 1928 he defended a thesis for a doctorate in medicine at the University of Paris .

In 1931-1934 he worked in the Russian Ambulance Red Cross in Paris, from 1934 he worked in the Russian Ambulatory named after V. I. Temkin.

Since 1933 - member of the Group of Russian Academics ( Groupe Académique Russe ) in Paris. In 1950 he was elected chairman of the Union of Russian Armenians in France.

He led the reception at the Franco-Russian hospital in Villejuif near Paris.

Secretary General of the Assistance Committee for the Union of Russian Military Disabled People (1930s).

Founding member of the Paris Freemasonry Freemasonry Lodge (1931) [19] , member of the Northern Star Lodge (1926-1934) ( WWF ) [2] .

He died in Paris in 1955.
