The GITIS Theater is a theater in Moscow , a branch of the Russian Institute of Theater Arts - State Institute of Theater Arts (RITI — GITIS) . Since 1958, the theater has been located in the historic Nirnsee house in Bolshoi Gnezdnikovsky Lane , building 10; performances also take place on the educational scene of RITI-GITIS in Maly Kislovsky Lane , 6.

History
The building of the theater was built in 1914 by the architect-entrepreneur Ernst Richard Nirnsee as his own apartment building for cheap apartments, one of the first Moscow skyscrapers - “turerez”. Since 1915 several theaters have been working here in series:
- 1915-1922 - The Bat -Cabaret Theater under the direction of N. F. Baliev (the premises for the Theater were painted by S. Sudeikin );
- 1922-1924 - cabaret "Jimmy's Curve" at hand. N. N. Evreinova
- 1924-1928 - The Moscow Theater of Satire (MTS) at hand. David Gutman
- 1928-1931 - Studio of the Maly Theater at hand. F.N. Kaverina
- 1931-1958 - The Gypsy Theater "Romen" at hand. Moshe Goldblat (until 1936), Mikhail Yanshin (since 1936)
