Musical career

Start (2001—2004)

Negramaro consists of six musicians originally from the province of Lecce . At the beginning of their career, thanks to numerous “live” performances, they quickly become known in alternative circles . The group attracts the attention of producer Katerina Caselli , working at the studio Sugar. There, in 2003 , they recorded their first album, Negramaro , but it turns out to be too alternative for the Italian audience and does not become successful. At that time, there are two singles: “Mono” and “Solo” . In 2004, the musicians met with producer Corrado Rustichi and recorded several songs with him. As a result of their collaboration, a new composition “Scusa Se Non Piango” appears , as well as three remixes: “Es-Senza” , “Evidentemente” and “Come Sempre” . All these four songs were included in the album “000577” (2004), - a new edition of their debut work, this time in the style of pop-rock, which turned out to be closer to the Italian audience. In 2004, the band re-released the song “Come Sempre” as a single, which the largest Italian television and radio company RAI chooses as a soundtrack to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Festival of Sanremo and Mentre Tutto Scorre (2004–2006)

In 2005 , the song “Mentre Tutto Scorre” was performed at the Sanremo Negramaro festival , but they did not go beyond the first round. This composition will be the first single from their second album of the same name, released in 2005. Despite the failure at the festival, Negramaro's eight songs are chosen as the soundtrack to the film Fever (it. La Febbre ), in which the main role was played by Fabio Volo . This helped the group to gain popularity: the single “Mentre Tutto Scorre” for twenty weeks remained among the best-selling in Italy [1] . The second single, “Estate” , for the first time raised Negramaro to the first line of the Italian chart [2] , and at the 42nd annual Festival Festivalbar he brought the team victory in the nomination “Discovery of the Year” [3] . Soon after, the solo leaders were the singles Solo3min [4] and Nuvole e Lenzuola [5] , the latter even entered the video game Guitar Hero World Tour . Subsequently, the Mentre Tutto Scorre album for 89 consecutive weeks remained among the best-selling [6] [7] and received diamond status in Italy.

La finestra and San Siro Live (2006–2009)

From November to April 2007, the band is working on a new album in the United States at Plant Studios ( San Francisco ) and Sterling Sound ( New York ), in collaboration with Corrado Rustici. La finestra , the new album of 14 rock-style tracks, was released on June 8th. The first single , Parlami d'amore, was among the best-selling in Italy for 28 weeks, [8] and the album went platinum in less than four months: more than 120,000 copies were sold during this period alone. La finestra appeared in the charts for 90 weeks [9] [10] and subsequently received the status of diamond.

In August 2007, Negramaro takes part in the 64th Venice International Film Festival . As part of the Horizons program, they present the documentary film “On the Other Side of the Moon” ( Dall'altra parte della luna ), in which they tell their story. In the same year at the Festival Festivalbar , the composition “Parlami d'amore” became the absolute winner [3] . In October, they will again succeed: the song "L'immenso" rises to the top of the list of the most played songs on the radio [2] .

The next single is the song “Cade la pioggia” , which the band recorded with Giovanotti .

In 2008, the single “Via le mani dagli occhi” received the Lunezia award in the category “musical and literary value”.

May 31, 2008 Negramaro gives a concert at the San Siro Stadium, where 40,000 people come. After that, the San Siro Live live album is released on CD + DVD, which reached fourth place on the FIMI chart and received platinum status after selling 80,000 copies [11] .

Negramaro cooperated with filmmakers more than once, their music was used in the films Fever ( La febbre , 2005 ), Reinforced Concrete ( Cemento armato , 2007 ), Una notte blu cobalto ( 2009 ) and Vallantsaska - Angels of Evil ( Vallanzasca - Gli angeli del male , 2010 )

Casa 69 and Operation Giuliano Sangorgi (us)

In 2010 , shortly after the release of the single "Sing-hiozzo" , Negramaro's fifth album, entitled Casa 69, was released . The CD was recorded in Toronto at Metalwork Studios with the participation of producer David Bottrill (also working with Muse and Placebo ). The album was released on November 8, and at the end of December FIMI assigned him the status of triply platinum [11] .

In February 2010, the group had to cancel their plans, including a tour in support of the new album, in connection with the vocalist operation on the vocalist of the group Giuliano Sanjorgi [12] . The team postponed the tour until the autumn of next year. On March 1, 2011, as a thank you for the support that fans of the group provided to Giuliano, the group puts on its official website his letter and the previously unreleased song “Aspetto lei” .

On September 9, 2011, a new single from the album Casa 69 entitled “Io non lascio traccia” appears on the radio, and on October 1, the band goes on tour, continuing until May 2012 .

Una storia semplice (2012 - present)

On September 21, 2012, the release of the new single “Ti è mai successo?” , Which was included in the Negramaro compilation of the best songs of ten years titled Una storia semplice, took place .
