Biography

Alexey Golubkov was born March 24, 1912 in the village of Mikhailovskoye (now Sudislavsky district of Kostroma region ) into a peasant family. He graduated from ten classes of the school, after which he worked on a collective farm . He later graduated from the factory apprenticeship school in Kostroma , worked at the Worker Metalworker factory in the iron foundry. He had armor from military service, but in August 1942 he achieved his dispatch to the front. Initially, he was a Red Army contact man, then became the commander of the communications department of the 923rd artillery regiment of the 357th rifle division of the 43rd army of the 1st Baltic Front . Particularly distinguished during the liberation of the Lithuanian SSR [1] .

On July 6, 1944, at the approaches to Švenčenis, German troops attempted to stop the advancing Soviet units, meeting them with strong artillery fire. Golubkov ensured continuous communication between the batteries, reconstructing wires under massive enemy fire for two hours. He was wounded three times, but did not leave his post. Breaking through the enemy defenses, the Soviet units liberated the village. Only in the local church managed to stay still near the company of enemy soldiers, the approaches to it were guarded by machine guns and self-propelled artillery of the enemy. Golubkov and the Nikolaev fighter secretly made their way from the flank behind the fence and destroyed several enemy firing points, which allowed the rest of the infantry to break through directly to the church. During the battle, Golubkov personally destroyed 18 enemy soldiers and officers. In one of the rooms of the church near Golubkov a grenade exploded. From his injuries, he died on the spot. He was buried in the village of Lyntupy, Pastavy district, Vitebsk region of Belarus [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, Sergeant Alexei Golubkov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union for "exemplary performance of command missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism". He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and a number of medals. Forever enrolled in the lists of the military unit [1] .

In honor of Golubkov, the streets in Kostroma, Sudislavl and Lintup are named [1] .
