Vasily Ivanovich Klochkov (1861, St. Petersburg - May 26 [ June 8 ] 1915 , Petrograd ) - bibliophile, publisher, antiquarian and bookseller; one of the founders of the Circle of lovers of Russian elegant publications ; great-nephew of A.F.Smirdin .

Biography
The son of a hereditary Petersburg bookseller I. M. Klochkov. He graduated from a private boarding house and was one of the first in 1885 [1] to open the bookstore V. I. Klochkov, an extensive bookstore for that time, on Liteiny Prospekt ( building No. 55 , now - building No. 59 ). He managed to attract the best buyers. The store was often visited by writers N. S. Leskov , D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak , A. A. Blok , A. I. Kuprin , antiquaries D. A. Rovinsky , P. A. Efremov , N. V. Soloviev , V. A. Vereshchagin . The store had a small room that had become a bibliophile club.
V. I. Klochkov issued the largest number of antique catalogs (more than 600, 576 catalogs from 1885 to 1915), as well as catalogs of lost rarities (“desiderata”), which he distributed throughout Russia [2] . Such valuable book collections as the libraries of Prince S. M. Vorontsov [3] , Count S. A. Apraksin [4] , V. I. Astashev and others were sold through his store. With the close participation of Klochkov, the library of G. V Yudina .
V.I. Klochkov had 29 types of signs, performed by well-known artists - E.E. Lansere , S.S. Solomko .
He was buried in the Smolensk cemetery .

- ↑ The favorite student of Klochkov, Nikolai Mikhailovich Volkov , participated in the compilation of the catalogs. As a twelve-year-old boy, he was taught to Klochkov, and at the age of 17 he was admitted to the difficult and painstaking work of compiling bookselling catalogs.
