History
In 1281, military administration was organized on the archipelago ( Chinese р 司 пал , pall. Xunjans ), which lasted until 1388. In 1563, Yu Dai, in the course of the fight against the Wako pirates, again created Xunjiang on the archipelago, which was liquidated after his death.
At the beginning of the XVII century, the Dutch began to show interest in the archipelago, and therefore, in the middle of the XVII century, the authorities of the Ming dynasty joined the struggle for the archipelago. From 1626 to 1658, the archipelago was managed by Zheng Zhilong (who became the commander of the Chinese fleet). In 1661, Zheng Zhilong's son Zheng Chenggong expelled the Dutch from the islands, and they became part of the state of the Zheng family . In 1683, after the battle for the Penghu archipelago, the state of the Zheng family surrendered to the Qing Empire, and these islands became part of Fujian province . In 1885, during the Franco-Chinese War, the islands were captured by French troops and returned to the Qing Empire in accordance with the terms of the peace treaty that ended the war.
In 1895, the Japanese captured Penghu , and Taiwan was transferred to Japan . The Japanese have established here their system of administrative-territorial division.
After the surrender of Japan in 1945 and the return of Taiwan under the jurisdiction of China, Penghu County was formed.
