Shota Abkhazava (born August 12, 1971 ) is a race car driver, designer of racing cars , creator of two race tracks in Russia and Georgia , a businessman.

In 1993 he graduated from the Moscow Automobile and Road Institute ( MADI ) with a degree in racing cars. As a student, he participated in the project of creating Russian racing cars Astrada and Gardarika. He worked in the Laboratory of sports cars (LSA) MADI. In 1998, he founded the design bureau and the Pilot F-3 Engineering team. In 1999, the team fights for leadership in the Russian Championship, having the assets of the latest Italian Formula 3 Dallara F399 car under the control of the pilot Fabio Babini [1] . A year later, the team changed its name to “ ArtLine Engineering ” [2] , and in 2001 Maurizio Mediani won her first championship title for her.


In 2003, Abkhazava decides to transfer the team from international Formula 3 to national Formula 1600 [3] ; a year later, for the first time announces the upcoming transition to a chassis of its own production - ArtTech [4] . In the same period, for the first time, he was elected coordinator of the national “formula”, replacing Nikolay Vetrov [5], the head of the Formula Z team, and becoming a member of the Committee for Ring Racing of the Russian Automobile Federation [6] . In November 2004, the ArtTech racing car created under his leadership was exhibited for the first time at the Sport Motor Tuning exhibition [7] .

In 2005, he financed and participated in one of the first Russian seminars on sports marketing - “Sport Marketing 2005” [8] . Under the leadership of Abkhazava, the national Formula 1600 is recognized as the "class of the year" according to the popular motorsport blog iloveracing [5] . Abkhazava begins to design the first of two autodromes he built - Myachkovo (subsequently - ADM ). July 23, 2006 the new circuit takes the first official competition [9] . After the destruction of the Nevsky Ring in St. Petersburg [10] , Myachkovo became the only stationary autodrome in the European part of Russia for 4 years, thereby supporting the very existence of such a sports discipline as ring racing in the country.

In 2006, Abkhazava openly opposed the leadership of the Russian Automobile Federation, accusing him of a tenfold increase in spending over five years [11] and a departure from the democratic principles of forming sports committees. In 2007, the head of ArtLine was a frequent visitor to the Countdown program, which precedes the broadcast of Formula 1 on RenTV . The team wins the championship of Russia and the individual stages of the championship of Finland in the class of Formula 3.

In July 2008, Abkhazava for the first time in history organized the Nordic Cup in the Formula 3 class [12] , and at the end of the year brought to Russia a new racing class - the American Legend Cars [13] . In December 2008, he first participated in the Legends world finals in Las Vegas and took 2nd place [14] .

In 2009, the Abkhazava team took part in the German Deutscher ATS Formel-3-Cup Cup in cars of its own production and won the Trophy classification [15] . Abkhazava begins its activities in the Georgian market as a businessman [16] and an organizer of competitions, for the first time bringing Formula 3 cars to the country. At the same time performs in the summer and winter cups of Legend Cars in Russia and wins in both series of competitions.

At the end of the successful 2010 German racing season for the team, Abkhazava announces the transfer of Art Line from 2011 to the ATS Cup absolute standings [17] . In October 2011, he was driving the Legend car and won the final race of the European Championship on the Formula 1 Spa-Francorsham track.

In December 2011, Abkhazava carried out technical, and in April 2012, the official opening [18] of the autodrome reconstructed by his company in Rustavi , called Rustavi International Motorpark, [18] . Heading the Autosport Association of Georgia (GASA), a businessman in just a year creates two full-fledged racing championships in the country - Legends and Formula Alfa, which brings Georgia to the leading position in motorsport among the countries of the former USSR [19] .

Career Racing

According to the analytical site Drivers Database [20] , Abkhazava participated in 71 races, 32 of which became the winner. For three years, he twice won the World Finals Legend Cars (2008 - 2 place in the SemiPro standings, 2011 - 3 place in the Pro standings) and three times won the Russian Legends Cup. In the Georgian championship in 2012, he took the lead both in the number of victories and the number of pole positions (6 wins, 7 poles, 3 fastest laps).

In 2014, Abkhazava for the first time took part in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series - “the fastest trophy of one brand in the world” [21] - for the Automobili Lamborghini Racing Team Luxemburg team. He begins the season in Monza and, having finished in the second position in both weekend races, rises to the second line of the drivers' standings in the largest test group “AM” [22] . In the season of 2015, Abkhazava, speaking for the Artline Team Georgia team he created, wins the series. [23]
