Khotomelskoye Settlement - Slavic Settlement on the territory of Belarus ( Stolin District , Brest Region ), attributed to Prague culture , which slowly evolved into the onion-raykovetsky culture [1] . The time of existence of the VI — X century.
The settlement is located on the banks of the Goryn River , northeast of the city of Stolin , near the village of Khotomel . The site of the settlement (30 by 40 m) is surrounded by a ring shaft and a second arc-shaped shaft and a moat. The mound was used as a temporary refuge, as evidenced by the absence of a cultural layer in the middle of the site. In the same place, at the rampart, were found the remains of a long, above-ground public house, meaning that the site was a community center [2] .
The remains of stucco ceramics and the tip of an Avar arrow were found in the settlement. Also in the upper layer were found a silver 7-ray temporal ring (of the Radimich type), bits, clay spindles , iron chisel , sickles, knives.
In the layers of the 7th — 9th centuries, remnants of military armor ( lamellar- type armor) - rectangular oblong iron plates with holes were found. The shell was made up of such plates, connected to each other with straps or braid [3] .
Near the settlement there was a settlement with rectangular dugouts (6x4m) heated by mud-baked kilns. Found bones of domestic animals: pigs, cows and horses.
It was investigated by the expedition of Yu. V. Kukharenko .
