History and origin of the name

The street appeared during the reconstruction of the Zarechny residential district in the 1980s . The street got its name in honor of Clement Gottwald (1896-1953) - a prominent figure in the Czechoslovak labor movement [3] [4] .

Development

Modern street development is predominantly residential multi-storey buildings (9 - 16 floors). The residential building with the lowest number of floors - No. 23/2 - has 7 floors, the highest - No. 14a - has 18 residential floors. The oldest building on the street - a brick plastered house No. 19 - was commissioned 02/25/1977 [5] [6] . The newest building is the monolithic house No. 21/1, which was commissioned in 2010 [7] . Currently, two new residential complexes are under construction: Olkhovsky Park and First Nikolayevsky. Residential complex “Olkhovsky steam” is a complex consisting of five houses of different storeys: from 16 to 33. Residential complex “First Nikolaevsky” - a complex is “unfinished”, which includes multi-sectional 14- and 25-storey buildings. The second phase of the LCD, which is being built by Prinzip , was called Tatlin [8] .

Location and amenities

The street runs from southwest to northeast. At its beginning (from Bebel Street to Opalikhinskaya Street ) it passes along the axis of the former Kolmogorov Street , which, after the appearance of the Gotwald Street in the 1980s, split into two sections. It ends with the intersection with Cherepanov Street [3] [4] . It intersects with Sophia Perovskaya Street (which has no addresses in the area after the reconstruction of the 1980s and is indicated only by a sign at this intersection). Opalikhinskaya Street adjoins the street to the left; Plekhanova , Odinarka and Mashinistov Streets go out onto the Gotvald Street on the right.

The length of the street is about 1400 meters [1] . The width of the carriageway is about 15 m [1] (two lanes in each direction). There are six traffic lights along the street (at the intersections of Bebel, Opalikhinskaya, Sofya Perovskaya, Odinarka, Mashinistov and Cherepanova streets), there are no unregulated pedestrian crossings . On both sides of the street is equipped with sidewalks and street lighting . House numbering starts from Bebel Street.

Transport

Automobile traffic on the entire length of the street is two-way. In 2008, a large-scale reconstruction of the street was made [2] , as a result of which the carriageway was expanded from 2 to 4 lanes, the street was straightened [2] .

Ground public transportation

After the expansion of the carriageway in 2008, the street became the main transport route of the Zarechny microdistrict - most bus routes passed along it (before the expansion of Gotvald, Cherepanova Street played this role), bus route No. 6 (previously following Cherepanova) was transferred to the street [9] . However, in 2010, the bus route number 6 again returned to the street. Cherepanova. Currently, municipal bus route No. 60, commercial No. 15, 024, 035, 082 (stops "Legal Academy", "University of Railways" and "Gotvalda-Cherepanova"), as well as municipal No. 43 and 61, and commercial No. 06, 011, 014, 083 (Gotvalda stop).

Nearest underground stations

The nearest metro station - " Uralskaya " - is one and a half kilometers from the end of the street. It was planned to build a light rail system in Yekaterinburg, one of the possible options was a line passing through the Zarechny microdistrict - in this case, it had to go in the immediate vicinity of the beginning of Gotvalda Street (in the area of Bebel and Khalturin Streets).
