Biography and Creativity

At 4 years old, he lost his father, who was in charge of the psychiatric clinic, where Jacques was born. He was brought up by his grandfather, a Lyon notary. In 1944 he settled in Paris , in 1947 he met Rene Schar , who helped the young poet and with whom Dupin maintained a warm relationship until 1975. In 1948 he met with Pong , Braque , Camus , Bataille , in 1950 became secretary of the magazine and publishing house “Cayeux” d'ar "(" Notebooks on art "). Constantly met with Brynkushi , V. Lam , A. Calder , N. de Stael , Picasso , J. Miro , A. Masson , A. Giacometti , and later with R. Yubak , E. Chillida , A. Tapies , F. Bacon (Bacon owns a portrait of Dupin, 1990 , see: [1] ), P. Aleshinsky , Jorge Camacho , who for many years became his close friends. In 1954 he became friends with A. du Boucher , I. Bonfois and F. Jacot . Since 1955, collaborates with the Eme Maga Gallery, is responsible for its publishing products and, above all, the magazine Deryer le Miruar (Through the Looking Glass). Since 1966, publishes with his friends the magazine "Ephemer" (until 1972 ). In 1969 he met with Paul Oster , who translates it into poetry in English, they together give readings in New York and London . In 1977, he prepares a retrospective exhibition of Henri Michaud and works closely with him. Since 1981 he is responsible for the publishing products of the Paris gallery Lelon. In 1987, the Geneva-based Literary Review magazine dedicated a special issue to Dupin’s work, in which A. du Boucher , Bonfois , P. Oster , Michelle Deghe and others participated. Dupin’s poems live an excruciating search for the very foundations of human existence and even pre-existence, he works with the word as hard and indomitable as Cezanne with paints and brush. Dupin's books were illustrated by A. Tapies, A. Masson , R. Yubak , J. Miro , Etienne Aidou , Vladimir Velichkovich and other major artists, he is the author of monographs on the works of Miro , Giacometti , Tapies .

Died after a second stroke.

Recognition

Dupin's poems and essays are translated into English ( Paul Oster , John Ashbury ), German ( Paul Celan ), Spanish, Italian, Dutch and other languages. His poems are put to music by French composers Betsy Zholas ( 1959 ), Pierre Zhodlovski ( 1993 ), Jean-Jacques Di Tucci ( 1996 ). Jacques Dupin - laureate of the National Poetry Award ( 1988 ), Grand Prize of the French Academy for Poetry ( 2010 ).
