World Figure Skating Championships 1956

The 1956 World Figure Skating Championship was held by the International Skating Union on February 16-19 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Germany . Competitions were held in the categories of women's single skating , men's single skating and pair skating and ice dancing . The world champions were the representatives of the USA Carol Heiss among women and Hayes Alan Jenkins among men, the representatives of Austria Elizabeth Schwartz and Kurt Oppelt among couples, the representatives of Great Britain Pamela Veit and Paul Thomas in dances.
