Biography
Born in the family of an Orthodox priest. In 1897 - 1902 he studied at Starodubsky Theological School, in 1902 - 1906 - at the Chernigov seminary, then - at the Moscow Theological Academy . After graduating from the Academy ( 1910 ), he was left to prepare for a professorship. In-depth interest in religious and philosophical issues led to a rapprochement ( 1906 ) with P. A. Florensky , V. A. Ternavtsev , Lev Shestov . Later he became acquainted with the teachings of N. F. Fedorov ( 1912 ). The idea of overcoming death as the highest goal of mankind has determined the attitude of Gorsky to the tasks of literary creativity.
Following the teachings of Fedorov led to the rejection of the adoption of dignity and discrepancy with the church. He approached I. P. Brihnichev and published in the Novoe Vino magazine published by him ( 1913 , No. 2-3).
In 1913 he was sent to teach Latin and Russian literature at the Odessa Seminary. Together with Brihnichev, he published the ecumenical matter collection (no. 1, Odessa, 1914), dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the death of Fedorov. From 1922 he lived in Moscow, published books about Tolstoy and Fyodorov "In the face of death" (1928) and "N. F. Fedorov and modernity. Essays "(Vol. 1-4, Harbin, 1928-1933).
Illegally repressed in 1929 , again in 1943 . Rehabilitated posthumously.
Literary Activity
The collection “The Universal Case”, published together with Brihnichev, included poems and articles by Gorsky. Among them is the article “Terrestrial” about the philosophical and life contacts of N. F. Fedorov and V. S. Solovyov. Later, Gorsky devoted this book to Heaven on Earth ( Harbin , 1929 ).
I tried to give a poetic interpretation of the teachings of Fedorov in the collection of poems “Deep morning. (Hymns) ”(Moscow, 1913 ; acted under the pseudonym of A. Gornostayev , A. Ostromirov , A. Grobov , Luchitsky A. K. ), in which the influence of V. S. Solovyov and early A. A. Blok is noted. The low quality of the poems was determined by the lack of originality of the figurative system and the lack of formal thought.
Gorsky took an active part in the literary life of Odessa, published poems and articles about music in the journal South Musical Herald (1914-1917). I came close to the young Odessa poets - E. G. Bagritsky , I. Bobovich , A. Fioletov and others. He published a review of the collection “Auto in the Clouds” (Odessa, 1916), where he highly appreciated the thematic and formal innovation of the authors of the collection. Gorsky singled out Bagritsky and Moscow participants — V. G. Shershenevich and S. M. Tretyakov (Southern Musical Herald, 1916, no. 3-4). Took part in the collection “The Seventh Coverlet” (Odessa, 1916). His poems were sharply distinguished by their romantic mood and philosophical and theological themes.
The author of the books “Facing death” ( 1928 ) about L. N. Tolstoy and N. F. Fedorov and “N. F. Fedorov and modernity. Essays "(Vol. 1-4, Harbin, 1928-1933).
