Biography
Roman Odnoochko was born on November 16, 1918 in the village of Ivaki (now the Dobrush district of the Gomel region of Belarus ). In 1939 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He participated in the Great Patriotic War, fought on the South-West , Stalingrad , 1st , 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian fronts. By February 1944, with the rank of guard of the senior sergeant, Odnoochko commanded the 76-mm gun of the 44th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 15th Guards Rifle Division [1] .
February 2, 1944, despite the enemy fire, Odnochka with his calculation rolled the gun to an open position and opened fire with direct fire, destroying an armored personnel carrier and about 20 enemy soldiers and officers. By order of the 15th Guards Rifle Division of March 4, 1944 for "courage and bravery shown in battle", Odnochko was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree, number 30511 [1] .
On March 17, 1945, in the area of the city of Vaivaser, the calculation of Odinochka, being in the battle formations of the infantry, destroyed in one day 2 easel machine guns and about 10 enemy soldiers and officers. By an order of April 12, 1945, for “courage and bravery shown in battles”, Odnochka was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree, number 24965 [1] .
On March 19, 1945, during the battle for the village of Mulrose, the calculation of Odinochka destroyed 5 easel machine guns and more than 30 enemy soldiers and officers [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945 for "exemplary execution of command assignments in battles with the German invaders" of the guard, senior sergeant Roman Odinochko was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree under number 237, becoming the full holder of the Order of Glory [1] .
After the war, with the rank of foreman, Odinochka was demobilized. He lived in the Brest region of the Belarusian SSR . In August 1947, he was convicted of complicity in a robbery and sentenced to 5 years in prison . In April 1952, after serving his sentence, he moved to Gomel , worked in the local apartment-maintenance unit . In May of the same year, he sent a letter to the chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR Nikolai Shvernik with a request for the return of the confiscated awards during his arrest. The letter was submitted to the prosecutor’s office [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 6, 1953, Roman Odinochko was stripped of all ranks and awards [1] .
He lived and worked in the village of Terekhovka, Dobrush district of the Gomel region of the Belorussian SSR. He died on March 4, 1960 [1] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Red Star , as well as a number of medals [1] .
