Telarmonium

Keyboard telarmonium

Telharmonium ( English Telharmonium ) - one of the earliest electromusical instruments that Thaddeus Cahill built in 1897. An electrical audio signal in it was created with the help of 145 special dynamo-machines , and was reproduced either with the help of horn loudspeakers , or transmitted over a telephone network to subscribers by subscription. However, the device created a significant load on the telephone lines and led to strong interference. In total, three such tools were built.

Telarmonium used additive sound synthesis . He became the prototype of the electronic bodies , including the Hammond organ .
