Crater Description

A picture of the Abu l-Waf crater from the side of Apollo 12 .

Firsov Crater is located in the north-west of the crater, Kachalsky and Viviani craters in the north, King crater in the northeast, Ktesibiy and Geron craters in the east [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 54.2 km [3] , depth 2.4 km [1] .

The crater shaft has a polygonal structure. The edge of the shaft and the inner slope are smoothed by erosion and have lost clarity. On the inner slope of the crater are ledges, which once could have been terraces or talus. In the northern part of the crater bowl is a small conspicuous crater; another crater adjoins the southwestern part of the shaft. The highest shaft height above the surrounding area is 1170 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 2500 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is marked by several small craters.
