Content
Musical style and influenceEra Vulgaris has been influenced by many genres. The sound moved away from the soft sound of the semi-acoustic guitars of the previous album , and became heavier, with a “crunchy” sound of guitars and felt the influence of electronic music . Rolling Stone noted "the influence of a new wave like Gary Newman ... throughout the album." The recording was described as “a whole new retro”, a fusion of “punk, rock, blues and southern grain”, as slower, moody and drunk than the previous ones.
Promotion and PromotionShortly after announcing the album in February 2007, a video was released showing Omm , Castillo and Van Leuven improvising. It was possible to see short shots of the process of creating “Misfit Love” and “ 3's & 7's ” on it. In the next video about recording the album, the recording “Turnin 'on the Screw” was observed.
Somewhat earlier, the news was published that the group was holding a contest for fans, the main prize of which was a “special package” from the group, which was legally approved by the group’s webmaster. On April 13, packages were sent to the winners, in which there were CDs entitled “You Know What You Did”, and in which there was only one track “Era Vulgaris”, about which Josh said that he would not appear on the record, but would be included as Bonus in the UK edition. The CD was accompanied by a handwritten letter in which fans were asked to distribute the song as quickly as possible.
Hello my friend
Thank you for accepting this gift. You will also find the strength to sing and dance to the song ERA VULGARIS. It was removed from the new album (of the same name), so it is yours and can serve as an example of how we think it should be “from now on”. In short - we try for you, and you - for us.
To start our relationship, we took the first step towards you. Now it's your turn. Share this with the friends you think we (you and we) will be happy. Download and distribute this on sites like graffiti that appear where you don’t.
New recipe on Rachel Ray?
Nicklback's new song on their poster? Secret government document? Cheats for video games? Password for a sex site? Something else damn it? It's up to you. Then show in which guts of the Internet you put this song and we (both) will be able to proudly smile broadly at our new relationship.
Oh, but only until midnight ... From now on and until then it is only for us. Can we trust you to wait? Relations are built on trust. Enjoy it!

AlbumOn the cover of the album you can see two bulbs from the advertising video: Balby and his accomplice Pirate. According to Omma, light bulbs symbolize what you find good ideas when it is not. The printing house used the old English font and "sperm Q", as on the cover of Songs For The Deaf . There was also an art booklet with many cartoon characters, such as a yellow broken Bulby bulb or a green Stampy pirate bulb. Light Bulb Heroes were created by Morning Breath Inc. .
ReceptionMostly reviews of Era Vulgaris were positive; Metacritic gave them 75 points out of 100 - the result is worse than previous albums.
