Lighthouse (film, 2012)

“Mayak” ( azerb. Mayak ) is a short film by the Azerbaijani director Fariz Akhmedov , filmed in 2012 . The film was shot by order of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan following the results of the contest “Bu-maidan, bu screen 2011”. Filming ended in November 2011 [1] . According to the director, the story of this picture is partly biographical and is associated with a close friend of the director [2] . The film tells about the relationship of two unhappy and single people - father and son. The world premiere of the film took place on April 14 [3] 2012 in Dubai [4] .

Story

For a long time, Ansari served on a desert island . He broke up with his family because of his complex nature. He has a son, Akif, and his ex-wife Gyulzar created a second family. Because of stubbornness and pride, Ansari is not interested in them. But one day Gulzar informs him of the drug addiction of their son, who is near death. He had not seen his father since he was three years old. Ansari forces Akif to his island and sets a goal - to cure his son without the help of doctors, using only his military skills ...

Festivals and Awards

On April 14 and 16, 2012, the film was screened in Dubai as part of the V Gulf Film Festival [3] .

At the II International Youth Film Festival "Light to the World" in Yaroslavl , held from July 12 to 15, 2012, the film took second place in the nomination "Feature Film" and became the winner in the nomination "Children's Film" in the category "B" (19-30 years) [5] .

The film was shown as part of the VIII Kazan International Muslim Film Festival , which was held from September 5 to 11, 2012 [2] . Also, the film was shown in the framework of the VII Batumi International Art House Film Festival, which was held from September 16 to 23 [6] .

The film was also shown in the framework of the V All-Russian Festival of Author's Short Films in Moscow and was awarded with a festival diploma. Within the framework of the festival, on September 27, the “Lighthouse” was shown at the Zvezda movie theater, on September 28 - at the World of Art cinema, and on September 29 the painting was shown at the Khudozhestvenny movie theater [7] .

On October 1, 2012, the film was shown as part of the Tashkent International Film Forum Golden Cheetah at the Youth Creativity Palace [8] .
