Biography
In 1975 he graduated with honors from the directing department (class of G. A. Tovstonogov) of the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography. In 1982, he completed an internship at the Leningrad Drama Theater named after Komissarzhevskaya. In 1975-1994 - The main director of drama theaters in Vologda, Smolensk, Grodno. He also staged performances in Petrozavodsk and Kursk. For 19 years of work in theaters, Mikhail Ilyich staged 65 performances.
He shot more than 35 documentaries. Among them are the cycles of the films “Artists of the Land of Vologda”, “The Great Museums of Provincial Russia”. For the film "Dionysius" in 2003 he was awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation.
