Career

Club

Remy Gard began his career as a football player in Lyon Olympic . He played on the team from 1984 to 1993. According to the results of the 1988/89 season, Gard as part of Lyon made it to Division 1 and made his debut in the strongest division of France the following season. After leaving the Lyon club, the footballer played in Division 1 for Strasbourg for another 3 years, after which he moved to London's Arsenal where he ended his football career in 1999.

Team

Remy Gard played for the French team from 1990 to 1992. He made his debut as part of the “tricolor” on January 21, 1990 in a friendly match with the Kuwait national team [1] . Gard spent 6 matches with the national team, including 1 as part of the qualifying tournament for the European Championship 1992 . I was present in the application of the national team for the European Championship-1992 , but did not play a single match in the tournament.

Coaching

Since 2003, Remy Garde has worked in various positions at Lyon Olympic. He was part of the coaching staff of the team under Paul Le Guén , and from 2010 to 2011 he headed the club's training center [2] . In June 2011, Gard replaced Claude Puel as head coach of Lyon [3] . In 2012, the club under his leadership won the cup and super bowl of the country. Gard left Lyon after the 2013/14 season “for personal and family reasons” [4] .

In November 2015, Gard was appointed head coach of the Aston Villa club, agreeing on a three and a half summer contract [5] . However, already five months later, at the end of March 2016, when Villa actually lost the chance to stay in the Premier League, he left the club by mutual agreement of the parties [6] .

On November 8, 2017, the Canadian club MLS Montreal Impact introduced Garda as the head coach and sports director, signing a contract with him for three years [7] .
