It is located on the shores of Lake Ostrovskoye , 50 km northwest of the city of Novosokolniki and 11 km north of the volost center, the village of Runovo .
The population of the village as of 2000 was 193 people [1] , in 2010 - 169 people.
Until 2005, the village was part of the now abolished Ostrovsky volost as its administrative center.
