The temple in the name of the seven youths of Ephesus is an Orthodox church located in the Zavalny cemetery of the city of Tobolsk .
History
The original wooden church of the seven youths of Ephesus was built in the Zavalny cemetery, according to the chronicles, after 1758 [1] . Later it was decided to build a stone temple. The construction of the stone temple was begun in 1772 . The construction was entrusted to the sergeant of geodesy Andrei Abarin with the money of the governor Denis Ivanovich Chicherin . The construction of the temple was completed on August 4, 1776 [2] . In 1800, Vladyka Barlaam blessed the construction of the bell tower, which lasted ten whole years. The money for its construction was taken from the money donated by citizens. In 1910, the northern aisle was added to the church in the name of Innocent of Irkutsk and Seraphim of Sarov [2] . The Church of the Seven Youths of Ephesus is the only church in the Tyumen Region that did not close during the difficult years of persecution. In the 1930s, the center of the Tobolsk diocese was located here until its abolition in 1937 [1] . After the execution of the priests, the watchman Agrippina did not give the temple a reproach: having closed in the temple, she had been living in it hopelessly for a month, eating prosfora [1] . In 1937 - 1943 , until the rector of the temple was appointed, the faithful gathered on their own for prayer [1] . During the Great Patriotic War, the Tobolsk Cemetery Church raised 110,600 rubles for the front. In 1943, the rector of the Tobolsk Cemetery Church received a telegram from Stalin with thanks for expressing patriotic feelings [3] .
