Shashkovo is a rural-type village, the center of the Shashkovsky rural administration of the Nazarovsky rural settlement of the Rybinsk district of the Yaroslavl region [2] .

The village is located on the left, high and steep bank of the Volga River , the height of the cliff is 35 m. On the opposite bank of the Volga, opposite the village of Shashkovo, is the village of Pesochnoe . The village is located south, below the mouth of the small river Karanovskaya . Beyond the Karanovskaya river was the village of Karanovo and the left-bank part of the village of Pesochnoe. On the northern outskirts of the village passes the highway Rybinsk - Tutaev . Martyunino village is located 1 km north along this road towards Rybinsk, and Pazderinskoye village is 1 km south-east towards Tutaev [3] .
The Holy Cross Exaltation Church of 1775, declared a cultural monument, is located in Shashkov. In the immediate vicinity there are a number of archaeological sites :

For a long time on the Volga coast between Shashkovo and Pazderinskaya there was a passenger pier Pervomaisk , on which ships of the local line usually landed: Rybinsk- Kolkhoznik .
On the general survey plan of the Romanovsky district of 1790, the village Shishina and Vozdvizhensky pogost are designated on the site of the village . After the unification of counties in 1822, Shashkovo belonged to the Romanovo-Borisoglebsky district [5] .
As of January 1, 2007, there were 718 permanent residents in the village [6] . In the village there is a kindergarten, school, post office. According to postal data in the village of 17 streets: Volzhskaya (6 houses), Zaprudnaya (5 houses), Zarechnaya (10 houses), Lesnaya (7 houses), Lugovaya (4 houses), Youth (7 houses), Embankment (4 houses), New (9 houses), Park (17 houses), Sadovaya (18 houses), Sovetskaya (12 houses), Pine (5 houses), Construction (3 houses), Central (10 houses), Cheryomushki (20 houses), Yubileynaya ( 49 houses), Coastal [7] .
