The Donna Reed Show is often regarded as one of the most successful sitcoms of the fifties and one of the few comedy shows of the period where the woman played the main role [2] . Although the ratings of the series in the first year of life were not high, with each subsequent season the program increased its audience and ultimately stably settled in the Top 25 most popular shows. Additional fame for the series was brought by the single "Johnny Angel" performed by Shelly Fabare , who topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1962 and sold over a million copies [3] . Donna Reed was nominated four times for her Emmy Award for Best Actress in a comedy television series , and also received the Golden Globe in 1963 [4] .
