Slovenska Slovenska škofovska konferenca, SKK Slovenian Conference of Catholic Bishops - Slovenia's Catholic Bishops Conference . It consists of 8 people: 6 bishops, who head 6 archdioceses and dioceses, 1 assistant bishop and 1 rest bishop ( emeritus ) [1] .
From 1918 to 1993, Slovenian bishops were part of the Yugoslav conference . After Slovenia gained independence, the Slovenian Catholic bishops on July 25, 1992, at their meeting approved a petition to the Holy See to form a separate conference. Pope John Paul II approved its creation on February 19, 1993 , the next day the Congregation for Bishops Affairs issued a decree formally approving the Slovenian Conference [1] .
The Slovenian Conference of Catholic Bishops is a full member of the Council of Conferences of Catholic Bishops of Europe.
