Biography
Born in Besancon in 1250 . In 1286 he received a bachelor 's degree in theology from the University of Paris , two years later - a master 's degree . He is credited with authorship of the popular preaching book Alphabetum narrationem [1] .
In 1291 he was appointed head of the Dominican province of northern France. In 1292, he was elected the eighth general master of the Order of Preachers on the General Chapter of the Order. He was in office for only two years, during the reign he tried to restore good relations between the Order and the Holy See , undermined by his predecessor, Munyo de Zamora ; and also paid great attention to internal discipline in the order. He died on November 22, 1294 in Lucca during his return to Rome from a trip to the Dominican monasteries.
