History
It was founded on December 25, 1925 [2] at the suggestion of the scientists of Saratov in the former house of Count Anatoly Dmitrievich Nesselrode on the corner of Moskovskaya and Komsomolskaya Streets. The main initiator was Professor A. G. Kovalevsky, who lived in this house, who received the support of several neighboring professors. With the participation of representatives of Saratov universities, the Board of the House of Scientists, headed by Professor A. Kovalevsky, was elected.
The Saratov House of Scientists was one of the first in the country founded by the new government .
The first events of the House were: the organization of the library, its fund consisted of donated books. Professor N. Mikhailov became the chairman of the library section. Professor Kaplinsky began to organize concerts. In addition, sections were organized: lecture, music, children, sports, household (for equipment and repair of premises, registration of events at home), canteen (for catering for scientists). Much has been done on our own and at our own expense.
Great help to the House was provided by the University of Saratov in the person of Professor V.V. Worms.
A symphony orchestra was created at the music section, with the receipt of state funding, musical instruments and a piano were purchased.
The House of Scientists was actively involved in the eradication of illiteracy.
The dining section was allocated the premises of the former Old Believer church, which was located opposite, and the adjacent stone stables, which allowed serving up to three thousand people a day.
After the Great Patriotic War , the Vernissage Club of amateur artists began to operate, uniting 57 war veterans.
In 1993, the House of Scientists was transformed into the Saratov Regional House of Culture and Science, and since October 2004 it has been called the Saratov Regional House of Art Workers (SODRI).
The House has the folk vocal and opera studio "Octave", the folklore and ethnographic ensemble "Fun" , the dance club "Vita-S", the Center for Aesthetic Education of Children "Lukomorye", the museum of traditional culture "Charm".
