History of the series

The central characters of the series are the teenagers Beavis and Butt-head, who live in the fictional town of Highland, Texas . They attend high school, where teachers are often at a loss from their antics. Occasionally, they work part-time at the Burger World, where they spend part-time jobs, and sometimes get other jobs when people mistakenly accept their strange behavior as responsive and assertive. Humor is their complete lack of traditional values, such as work ethics. Both of them are extremely disgusting and rude to almost every character in the series, and even to each other. They themselves, however, apparently do not realize this, and act instinctively. Beavis and Butt-head get out of their dangerous misadventures without serious consequences, while people near them do not always succeed. The main part of each episode is Beavis and Butthead's highly-social commentary when watching music videos shown on MTV , which happens in each episode. Beavis and Butthead are in 9th grade. During the cartoon, they repeatedly said that they were 15 years old.

Judge 's short cartoon Frog Baseball, starring Beavis and Butthead, was featured on Liquid television and presented as a short sitcom that became the progenitor of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim (cartoons for adults). Cable television channel MTV signed Judge to create new episodes, and the show went on air from March 8, 1993 to November 28, 1997 . When repetitions of the series went on in the United States, it received a rating of "Do not watch for persons under 14 years old." Replays are currently on MTV2 and Spike TV . In Russia, the series was broadcast on the local localization of MTV [2] [3] from 1998 to 2005 [4] [5] and in 2013 [6] , as well as from 2007 to 2014 on 2x2 [7] [8] .

In 1996, the series received a spin-off in the form of a full-length animated film " Beavis and Butt-Head Do America ."

In 2000, an episode was released in Celebrity Deathmatch : Death Match. Beavis vs. Butt-head ”(season 3, episode 25).

The scene with Beavis and Butt-head begins the film Eccentric 3D 2010. In it, they explain the essence of 3D technology.

In English, almost all male characters are voiced by the creator of the animated series Mike Judge . In Russian, all the characters of the cartoon were voiced by Sergey Chonishvili [9] [10] , who also introduced the nicknames of the heroes “Cormorant” and “Pelmen” [11] .

Return

In the summer of 2010, it was reported that Mike Judge was reviving the series and was finishing work on 30 new episodes. And in February 2011, MTV promised that the continuation of the series will be released in the summer. However, the premiere of the new season was delayed a bit and took place on October 27, 2011 .

In season 8 , 22 episodes were released. In the new series, the heroes did not mature, although there was such an idea. Despite the fact that 14 years have passed, in the animated series almost everything remained the same - the authors decided that the remake could spoil everything, because the fans were waiting for Beavis and Butthead exactly the way they disappeared in 1997. In the new series, Daria Morgendorfer is no longer there, because she left for Londale in the animated series dedicated to her . Heroes still watch TV often, but now less often video clips and more MTV reality shows, such as Jersey Shore (Beach), True Life, 16 and Pregnant (Pregnant at 16 ") or" Teen Mom "(" Daughter-mothers ") [12] . Also in the Beavis and Butt-head house is now a new TV and finally a kitchen is shown. In the new series, the voice acting is slightly changed, but in general it remained at the usual MTV level. Having preserved the old style of drawing, the authors made it more accurate, the lines are now high-quality and thin, and the painting is even and bright.

A temporary paradox arose in the series: since 14 years have passed - the world around Beavis and Butt-head has changed, they discuss modern clips and programs, computers and mobile phones have appeared, but the age of all the characters in the series has remained the same.

Characters

Beavis and Butt-head are two American teenagers from the fictional city of Highland ( Texas ) and the main characters of the animated series. Both are antisocial individuals who lack socialization and any productive activity [13] . Both do not experience empathy and have no moral bonds, even regarding each other, although they are positioned as best friends.

There are only three interests in their life - heavy music ( heavy metal and hard rock ), sex and violence . Equally limited is their free time (almost all the time) - television [approx. 1] , chips ( nachos ), as well as completely futile attempts to achieve intimacy with girls [approx. 2] and get rich . They live poorly, profit from work in the restaurant "Burger World", petty theft and digging in the trash.

Beavis usually wears a blue Metallica t-shirt (in some early episodes the Slayer t-shirt), but Butthead is usually dressed in a gray AC / DC t-shirt. Later, the t-shirt labels were changed to the names of the fictional groups “Skull” and “Death Rock”, but then (in the last 8 season) the names “Metallica” and “AC / DC” were returned.

In the full-length animated film Beavis and Butthead Doing America , they met two tramps: fat and thin. They said that in the past they had served Mötley Crüe on tour, and when they called in Highland (Beavis and Butthead's hometown), they slept with two prostitutes . At the same time, the tramps resemble Beavis and Butt-head in appearance and manner of communication, from which we can conclude that these are the fathers of the main characters. When analyzing DNA using samples from a sperm bank, the police found that they were the fathers of Beavis and Butthead.

Beavis and Butt-head are addicted to substance use . In some early episodes, having fun sniffing glue and paint. In the Sick series, Beavis puts a frog in his mouth to achieve a hallucinogenic effect (apparently confusing it with an American Colorado toad , whose skin and poison contain psychoactive substances). In the "Buy Beer" series, Beavis and Butt-head want to get drunk with beer for the purpose of intoxication , but the beer they bought is non-alcoholic . In the 4th episode of the 1st season (episode "Balloon" ), they decided to blow gas from balloons in order to obtain a narcotic effect, but there was helium in the balloons.

Beavis and Butthead study in Grade 9 Highland High School . Their low level of intellectual development leads to transfer to earlier classes up to kindergarten in the Held Back series , but soon they turn out to be so annoying and annoying that the director of this institution transfers them back to Highland High School.

Beavis
It has progenia (protruding lower jaw), the gaze is directed to one point. The face is most often depicted in profile. Beavis grunts when he laughs, has a shrill voice, and also often picks his nose.

Of the two of them, he is the most excitable and constantly loses touch with reality. Optimist. Beavis is obviously the dumbest character in the animated series. He is completely incapable of thinking normally, and in addition to being absent-minded, he can forget what Butthead sent him a minute ago. Beavis loves to fantasize about her long-standing sexual encounters, but Butthead usually convicts him of a lie. In one of the episodes ( “At the Movies” ), Beavis, commenting on the clip, says that he is Irish. In the series, he often has to experience the physical pain inflicted by his friend Butthead and other characters. From the series it becomes obvious that Beavis is strongly influenced by Butt-head, this is confirmed in episode 8 of season 6, where Beavis is friends with Stuart and does not engage in wrecking in an alternative reality without Butt-head.

In some episodes, a large amount of chocolate and sparkling water, as well as a painkiller, causes the awakening of his second self, or alter ego - Great Cornholio . During such haze, Beavis pulls a T-shirt over his head and begins to speak with a pseudo-Spanish accent. Basically, he harasses others with the endless phrase “I need paper for my corn” and other senseless nonsense.

According to Mike Judge, Beavis was named after Bobby Beavis, the guy who lived next door to Judge in college. He also said that with the character of a real Beavis, the cartoon character has nothing to do.

Butthead
Wears dental braces, squints all the time, has a hooked nose. His upper gum sticks out from under his upper lip. Butthead says in a nasal, teenagerly low voice and a little lisp. He begins almost every sentence with a lingering “Ehhhhh ...”, and ends with a laugh “Eh heh heh heh.” A calm and at the same time more arrogant Butt-head is absolutely not inherent in quick-wittedness, but nevertheless, he often reasons and gives advice on a variety of topics. And although it is almost always an absolute absurdity, Butthead does it with the appearance of "seasoned." With very infrequent communication with the girls, Butt-head hesitates too much and, worried, goes too far. When the heifer approaches, Butthead only grabs the phrase “Hey baby! Come to Butthead! ” In the duet, he clearly dominates Beavis, which is manifested in the regular insulting of a friend and weighed him in the face (except if Beavis manages to hit Butthead in the groin).

Creator Mike Judge said that the idea of the name “Butthead” was born in childhood when he was acquainted with two people, one of whom was called “Iron Butt” ; because he regularly asked other people to give him an ass, thereby demonstrating his strength), and another “Butt-Head” (from the English. butt - ass and head - head, literally: “Ass-headed”).

Tom Anderson
The old myopic neighbor Beavis and Butt-head. For a small monetary reward, he often asks them to help him in his everyday life (to do the cleaning or go to the store), which leads to the destruction of his yard, house, loss of money and personal property. Due to poor vision and a little senile dementia, Anderson will never recognize these two and do not remember their names. He served in the landing forces during World War II and the Korean War (which he mentions in Episode 11 of Season 2 - “Wash the Dog”). His image subsequently had a great influence on the appearance and voice of the character of Hank Hill from the animated series King of the Hill, as both Anderson and Hill were copied from one person known to Judge in his youth.
Margie Anderson
The elderly wife of Tom Anderson (her name was only once heard in a feature film). In the series “Here Comes the Bride's Butt”, Tom says that he has known her since school. Margie is a housewife, but rarely helps Tom in gardening. Like Tom, he suffers from a slight senile dementia and will never recognize Beavis and Butthead. In the series appears much less often than Tom, her most significant role - in the full-length film.
David van drissen
A teacher at Highland High School, and probably the only person Beavis and Butthead really care about. Van Drissen is a kind, intelligent hippie with a soft character and endless patience. His constant attempts to teach this couple at least something end in failure, as they always perceive everything in their own way. Hippie Van Drissen loves to play his acoustic guitar, which once due to the fault of Beavis and Butt-head almost ended for him with serious injuries. Van Drissen teaches lessons in biology, drawing, economics, medicine, history and literature.
Bradley
Buzzkat
Another teacher of this couple, the exact opposite of Van Drissen. Tough, cynical and quick-tempered. Buzzkat is a veteran of the Marine Corps, a participant in the Vietnam War and the Gulf War , a typical military man. Very reminiscent of the character of Sergeant Hartman from the film " Full Metal Shell " Kubrick. With a manic passion for order, he hates Beavis and Butt-head more than any other character. Sometimes he substitutes for other teachers, but most often leads physical education lessons. Buzzkat constantly yells at Beavis and Butt-head and even hits them, although he once protected him from an angry sales manager who visited school to instill sales skills in the young American generation. He believes that only he can beat his students.
Director McVicker
Director of Highland High School and one of Beavis and Butthead's most ardent haters. With their behavior, they brought him to a nervous tick and stutter. In the Christmas series, McVicker is bald with grief and suffered a heart attack when Beavis and Butt-head frustrated the Christmas performance. Many episodes begin with McVicker cracking Beavis and Butt-head in his office. They call him Mr. McCleaner / MacSkyker for the eyes (Mr. Mc Dick er, dick - penis). However, he even manages to take revenge on these two ( Wet Behind the Rears series ). In the last episode of the seventh season, entitled “ Beavis and Butt-head Are Dead” , after stating the “death” of the couple, he stutters and stops trembling for the first time. But when they appear alive at their funeral, McVicker has a second heart attack.

In the episode "Beavis and Butt-Head make Christmas" was depicted in Beavis's dreams as his subordinate - a kitchen worker in the fast food restaurant "Burger World".

Daria Morgendorfer
Daria is sarcastic, presumably loving art rock and not popular with boys, bespectacled crammed in heavy military boots, classmate Beavis and Butthead. Being smart and insightful, she is one of the few who see these two as who they really are. Although Daria often bites them about extremely low intelligence, sometimes she offers help and good advice. The couple tease Daria with “Diarrhea” and greet her with the words “Diarrhea, cha-cha-cha”, but one day they called her “cool” because she asked an acute question to President Clinton during the school meeting. Daria was later dedicated to the eponymous series , which is the spin-off of the Beavis and Butt-head series
Todd Janucci
Todd is twenty-something years old, he is a local big-time punks. Rides a heavily beaten green car. Beavis and Butt-head try to imitate him and dream of getting into his "gang". Todd treats them down, uses them when he needs something, such as money for gas. At the same time, he dismissively calls Beavis and Butt-head "girls." From the episode "Steamroller" (Steamroller) you can find out that Todd once dropped out of school.
Stuart Stevenson
A plump undersized "nerd" and sissy, a classmate of Beavis and Butt-head. He tries to be like them and believes that they are his best friends. Usually wears a black T-shirt with the inscription “ Winger ” (which is probably why Beavis and Butthead consider the half-bellied Winger “a group for wimps”). In reality, Beavis and Butthead Stewart are of little concern; they treat him like Todd does. Due to the fact that Stuart is trying to hang out with this couple, he constantly gets all the bumps.
Mr stevenson
Stuart Stevenson's father. A teacher at Highland High School and, like most other teachers, suffers from Beavis and Butthead's antics.
South Park .

Perception

Fire! Fryer! или Liar! Liar! .

Notes

Beavis and Butt-head Do Cristmas»
