MammaPrint (MammaPrint) is a diagnostic test designed to assess the risk of recurrence of breast cancer or the appearance of metastases within 10 years after the removal of the primary tumor. This test allows doctors to decide on the need for chemotherapy as an additional treatment. MammaPrint was developed by the Dutch company Agendey, and this test was approved for use in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) in February 2007. The FDA recommends testing in patients under the age of 61 years, without lymph node metastases, with a tumor size of less than 5 cm, regardless of the hormonal status of the tumor [1] .
The test is based on data obtained at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam [2] , indicating that it is possible to predict the likelihood of metastasis by analyzing the expression of 70 genes in early-stage breast cancer [3] . The test is performed on fresh tumor tissue using a DNA microchip . The test results are evaluated on the dichotomous principle: patients are classified as low-risk or high-risk relapse, without a moderate risk group [4] .
