Alexander Ilyich Brodsky ( June 7 [19], 1895 , Yekaterinoslav - August 21, 1969 , Kiev ) - a scientist and chemist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR ( 1943 ), academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR ( 1939 ), laureate of the Stalin Prize ( 1946 ). Honorary Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1963). Honored Worker of Science of the Ukrainian SSR (1965). Hero of Socialist Labor (1969) [1] . Director of the Institute of Physical Chemistry named after L. V. Pisarzhevsky, Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR .

Biography
Born on June 7, 1895 in Yekaterinoslav .
In the USSR, the first heavy water was received in 1934 by A.I. Brodsky in a laboratory setup at the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology D. I. Mendeleev [2] .
In 1943, A. Brodsky was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (specialty "inorganic and physical chemistry").
Professor of MIS named after I.V. Stalin in 1943-49, in 1941-49. headed the department of physical chemistry at the Moscow Institute of Steel.
He died on August 21, 1969 in Kiev . He was buried at the Bike cemetery .
