Biography

Born on January 2, 1936 . A few years later, when his repressed father Pyotr Vasilyevich Merkuryev (1906-1940) died, Eugene, along with his brother and sister, was adopted by his uncle - the famous artist Vasily Vasilyevich Merkuryev .

In 1961, Yevgeny Merkuryev graduated from the Leningrad Theater Institute. A.N. Ostrovsky , class of professor B.V. Zon , and was distributed in the Kamchatka Regional Theater in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky . There, gaining professional experience, for 2.5 years he played 18 roles [1] .

Returning to Leningrad in 1964 , he worked at the Young Spectator Theater , the Leningrad Regional Drama and Comedy Theater , the Maly Drama Theater , the Youth Theater on the Fontanka , and the Academic Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin (Alexandrinsky) .

Since 1987, he constantly served in the Drama and Comedy Theater on Liteiny , where he was engaged in the performances of Hamlet , The Great Catherine, The Young Peasant, Upyr, Forest, Faith, Hope, Love (Carom) ". At the same time, he collaborated with other troupes, in particular, the comedy shelter theater.

In 1995, E. P. Merkuryev was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation [2] .

In 1999, Yevgeny Petrovich Merkuryev became a laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art for the performance of the State Drama Theater at the Liteiny “ Les ” based on the play by A. N. Ostrovsky (the role of Karp, staged by Grigory Kozlov ).

In the 2000s, E.P. Merkuriev actively starred in films and television series. He gained popularity and fame thanks to the role of the mafioso Arsen - the main enemy and enemy of Anastasia Kamenskaya in the second season of the eponymous television series .

In 2004 he became a People's Artist of the Russian Federation [3] .

March 27, 2007 Evgeni Merkuryev died tragically [4] , having fallen under the ice while fishing on Lake Ladoga near Priozersk . He was buried in the Smolensk cemetery next to his daughter Eugenia [5] (1972-2006).
