Biography
He began his service in 1785 in the ranks of the drag guards of the Life Guard, in 1788 he received the rank of captain, was promoted to major general (1812), lieutenant general (1818) and generals from the cavalry (1826). He was the founder of the so-called Delagardiev Archive.
He served as a diplomat in Vienna from 1799 to 1801 and Madrid in 1813-1819.
Known as a prominent representative of the Gustavian party on the Riksdag of 1809, as a supporter of the reduction of the privileges of the nobility and the spread of education; One of his main merits is the active promotion of vaccination in Sweden. His archive was considered the most extensive of the private archives in the north. Delagardi is also known as the author and translator of several plays, was a member of several academies and societies.
